On February 4th, 2011, 8 months and 1 day after Joseph’s accident he finally came home to Kingwood. There had been much doubt as to whether he would be able to make it, not only because of problems with obtaining medical supplies, but also because many of the roads had been impassable earlier in the day due to heavy icing on many of the overpasses. However, his “mama” was not going to go down without a fight….she was taking her “prince” home! After getting signed out, loaded in his brand new wheels they were on their way …..but little did they know the reception waiting for them! As they came down one of the neighborhood streets signs had been put along the road with balloons bobbing up and down.
The first signs said…“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” . They turned the next corner only to find more signs and more balloons welcoming Joseph home! As they approached the gate to their sub-division cars were lined along the streets, and then the cheers and chants began….”TJS….TJS….TJS!” Their car slowed to a stop and people surrounded the car to catch a glimpse of Joseph and to give their personal warm welcomes. Some folks had been out in the cold for over an hour, but all said they would not have missed it for anything! As Joseph’s “tricked out van” inched forward more people came to wish him well and show him the community’s continued outpouring of love and support!
Finally the van was allowed to move on through the sub-division gates, only to be met again by another group of signs…these saying …”For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory”. I don’t think there was a dry eye there, and if you watch the video I think you’ll see that first hand, as well as the love and support this community has for Joseph and his family.
